Engine coking is an undesirable feature of the N14 engine found in MINI R56/R55 Cooper S 2007 - 2009 and MINI R56/R55 JCW 2007 -2012. Coking decrease engine performance and can lead to long term running problems if left untreated, a de-coke service is advisable, read more about engine de-coking here. Installing an oil catch can help to reduce coking by filtering the oil particles out of the crank case vented gases. The Mishimoto compact baffled oil catch can is made from billet aluminium and uses a 50 micron bronze filter. The filter is serviceable and has a drain screw on the bottom for easy access.
